Scholarships

The Air Force offers scholarships for high school seniors and students in college. You can find more information about scholarship opportunities at www.afrotc.com/scholarships.

Both high school and college students should contact our detachment Recruiting Officer at afrotc@unc.edu or (919) 962-2074 for more details.

The In-College Scholarship Program is open to individuals currently enrolled as full-time students in the Air Force ROTC program.  ICSP is tailored to meet specific officer production needs.  Because of this, the types of scholarships offered and to whom (i.e. freshman, sophomores, etc.) varies from semester to semester.

The CMLA Scholarship Program is granted to 100% of all qualified cadets who have successfully completed Field Training and have entered the Professional Officer Course, which spans their junior year and senior years. It is a two-year scholarship that provides up to $18,000 in tuition assistance each year (which can be converted to a housing benefit of $10,000). This award helps relieve financial burden on all cadets who may not have had a prior opportunity to obtain a scholarship.

These are three scholarship programs: the High School Scholarship Program (HSSP), the In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP), and the Charles McGee Leadership Award (CMLA).  All scholarships apply to your tuition and most lab fees. Also, you’ll receive a $900 annual textbook allowance and up to a $500 spending cash monthly stipend. Cadets not on scholarship are still given the opportunity to complete the program and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
